Guide to Mandatory Medical Insurance for Saudi Arabia (KSA)
Traveling to the Kingdom? Here is everything you need to know about your health coverage.
In accordance with the Royal Decree by the Saudi Government, all international visitors entering Saudi Arabia for Tourism, Umrah, or Family Visits must possess valid medical insurance for the duration of their stay. This ensures that travelers are protected against unforeseen medical emergencies while in the Kingdom.
Good News: Insurance is Included in Your Fee!
At eviSAudi, we believe in total transparency and simplicity. We do not charge you extra hidden fees for this mandatory requirement.
No Extra Forms Required: The mandatory medical insurance policy is automatically included in both our Standard ($185) and Express ($250) service packages. You do not need to purchase a separate policy or fill out complex insurance documents. We handle the registration directly with the government system.
What Does the Insurance Cover?
The insurance policy is issued by a Ministry-approved provider (regulated by the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance - CCHI) and is linked directly to your passport number.
Key Coverage Benefits:
-
✅ Emergency Medical Treatment: Full coverage for sudden illness, accidents, or injuries requiring immediate hospital admission.
-
✅ COVID-19 Related Costs: Coverage for examination, isolation, and hospitalization expenses if you contract COVID-19 during your stay.
-
✅ Medical Evacuation: Costs for emergency transport to the nearest suitable medical facility within the Kingdom.
-
✅ Hospitalization: Room, board, and doctor fees for inpatient treatments.
(Note: Coverage limits are determined by the Saudi Central Bank and the CCHI regulations currently in force.)
Who are the Insurance Providers?
The Saudi government assigns insurance providers automatically upon visa issuance. You cannot "choose" a specific company, but all approved providers meet the high standards set by the Kingdom. Common providers include:
-
Tawuniya
-
Bupa Arabia
-
MedGulf
-
Gulf Union
-
Al-Rajhi Takaful
How do I get my policy? Once your E-Visa is approved, your Insurance Certificate will be sent to your email as a PDF attachment along with your visa grant notice. You should keep a digital or printed copy with you during your trip.
Validity & Important Exclusions
It is important to understand the limits of this policy to travel confidently.
Validity Period
The insurance is valid for 1 Year (linked to your multi-entry visa), but coverage is active only while you are physically inside Saudi Arabia. The maximum coverage duration per visit typically aligns with the maximum stay allowance (90 days).
⚠️ Important Exclusion: Hajj Pilgrimage
This medical insurance covers Tourism and Umrah pilgrims. However, it is NOT VALID for the Hajj season. Travelers planning to perform Hajj must apply for a specific Hajj Visa which includes a specialized comprehensive insurance package.
